Congee / Porridge

What is it?

Thick, sticky rice porridge served with different savory items. The porridge one will see most often is “Duck Egg and Pork Porridge” (皮蛋瘦肉粥 “pei4 daan6 sau3 juk6 zuk1”)

Personally am a big lover for crab and seafood so I order those with savory a lot. Chicken & Mushrooms go very yummy together.

Where can I eat this?

One of my favorite Chinese Restaurant in Manhattan: Congee Village.

There are 3 chains. The one at Bowery Street is the one that I go to most, I had great great memory there. Allen Street is not bad but the waitress are super lazy I didn’t tip well last time so tend not to go back. Your choice.
